Q:
How can I get Bitmessage?
A:
Windows users can download the latest version of bitmessage here. Apple users can find an OSX build here. Bitmessage is not currently available for mobile users.
Q:
How do I make my own post?
A:
Click here to compose and submit your own post. Posting requires you to have a bitmessage address and send one dime's worth of bitcoin as an antispam measure.
Q:
Why do I have to send bitcoin to make a post?
A:
Other websites are full of spammers and fake users. Making each post require a dime's worth of bitcoin ensures that it is cheap enough for humans to post once when they want to but also too expensive for bots to make thousands of posts every hour. It also guarantees that every post on lokilist is worth at least a dime to its author. That encourages thoughtful posts.
Q:
I don't have any bitcoin. How can I get some?
A:
You can buy bitcoin on an exchange (here is a list of bitcoin exchanges) or earn it by doing work or selling goods.
Q:
What if I can't / won't send bitcoin to post on Lokilist?
A:
If you can't or don't want to send bitcoin, you can always view other users' posts and reply to them for free.
Q:
How long will my post be visible?
A:
Your post will be visible at its address for 100 days after it is published. It will also appear in search results for 100 days after it is published.
Q:
It has been less than 100 days. Why can't I see my post when I search for my location?
A:
Lokilist only returns the most 100 recent results for any search. If you post in a popular location, your post may get pushed off the most recent 100 results for that location, but your post will still be visible in searches for words in the body of your post.
Q:
Isn't it unfair if posts from popular areas won't be visible as long as posts from less populated areas?
A:
Posts in areas with more people will be seen by more people during the time they are visible.
